I'm fixing up a '73 VW Bug-Classic. I would like to know where I can find the towers that are over the shocks. This URL takes you to a diagram with the part I want on it.

The part I want is the part next to the letter A, it is the one that is vertical to the axles, on the right side of the diagram.
If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

thats part of the axle beam.. its welded together, if its all corroded then id just go with a new beam. finding a shock tower would be difficult then you need someone to weld it on for you so id just get a new one.. or go search on craigslist or thesamba.com for a balljoint beam. good luck

try a few of these places for parts...

chirco.com

Thats actually called the front beam, it should be on your car now. If you are looking for the shock tower, here is the link, on the same website:

Now, do you have a standard 73 or a super? There is a difference. The super has the Mcpherson front-end set-up with struts and springs, so its completely different than the standard ones. If you dont know, the easiest way to tell is this: Is your spare tire lying flat or is it upright? If its flat, its a super. If its upright, its a standard. Here is a link for a super beetle shock assy.:

You could try an auto salvage yard---and you can also try a welding shop and ask them guys what can they do with what you got right at this moment.

I can't remember for sure but it seems to me that the shock tower is welded to the outer black tubing that shields the torsion bars(or your suspension). So either the welding shop can fabricate a new holder to hold the top of the shock or they need the upright spacer. You might be able to get that at VW too but I am doubting it. Maybe Sambe. See if VWVortex site is still up. There are VW nuts there that might be able to help you too with a suggestion..
