I'm trying to hook up my new head unit and I'm hitting a problem. One of my friends says to run a wire from the stereo to the ignition fuse and as ghetto as it might sound I would like to try it. Please don't bash on me because I simply won't care but if you could help me find the ignition fuse all this German **** in the manual isn't helping me

All the wiring is already present in the 2003 Passat, so you don't have to run any wires at all.

If the harness connector is wrong, then all you need is an adapter that you buy with the radio or order from Amazon.

If you can't find it get a electrical tester and find a hot wire and decide if it is

hot full time or only when the ignition switch is on.

There is no ignition fuse and if there was you certainly would not want it connected to your electronics.
