Well i was fascinated with this car, when i was a child i always said i was going to buy one. But then, i discovered this automobile was specifically built by a request of Adolf Hitler, to be Germany's
"people's car". I just can not stop thinking how this car came into being, what was it's intended purpose. Is this a stupid reason to don't like this car?

He had the same goal as Henry Ford.

Don't be brainwashed into the belief he did nothing right

Considering that the design was created in the 40's it's understandably old.

It was not a safe car, it could not ever overheat, the weight was over the motor for great traction and it was very simple, so that most mechanically inclined young men could take out the motor on their own.

What other car could ever do all such things except perhaps the French Renault, yet that wasn't as popular as the beetle.

An Englishman who saw a future in the beetle and realized more jobs for out of work Germans resurrected VW in Wolfsburg after the war.

Today's version is a mere shell of the original and it's a troublesome car to own. It's made in Mexico so either the Mexicans are to blame or the bad German engineering.

It's just a nostalgic thing now.

The VW bug is one of the best cars ever built, and the only reason they stopped is that it was too well constructed and they wanted to shift to lighter and cheaper cars. Hitler paid for Ferdinand Porsche to design and build the VW, so Hitler had very little to do with it. It really should be thought of as a bottom end Porsche.

Mr. Victor, do you realize the high number of grammatical errors in your posting? I do not like "slanglish" or "convenient English. You have no sentences. "I don't like the VW Beetle anymore." That is one complete sentence. It is a declaration of your thoughts expressing your opinion. You wrote the next sentence without reading it. "Do you THING.." This is the wrong word. You wrote the pronoun, I, using the lower case "i" which is just a letter. That is incorrect. "Do you think I am crazy?" is the correct format as a sentence with "think" spelled correctly and the pronoun, I, capitalized. You continue with similar errors. Very serious errors. Introductory words such as "well," and "nonetheless," and "so," must have a comma after them. "Well, I was fascinated with this car." is a sentence. The errors go on. Look at the last sentence. "Is this a stupid reason not to like the car?" is correct. To write "... to don't like the car." is incorrect. History is full of information. Many people have been critical of US presidential action to include private wars, assassinations, toppling of governments, bribes and other serious charges. Do these actions make other choices bad over all? Presidents do not get to order the death of citizens. But they do in various ways. President Kennedy ordered the murder of the president of the Dominican Republic in the 1960's. President Bush (King Bush) ordered war against Iraq without any legal basis, His father ordered the attack and invasion of the country of Panama without any legal basis. The laws of US do not apply elsewhere any more than that the laws of other countries apply here. If Adolf Hitler, as the Chancellor of Germany endorsed or supported the invention of an air cooled engine, cheap to make and utilitarian for the benefit of the citizens of Germany, if he supported the new invention of the super highways, the Autobahn, does that condemn the items or results? I think you are discovering history and all of the bad, improper and negative aspects of the past. If you study the history of the USA showing up at the shores of the Hawaiian Islands and declaring a takeover, no questions asked, an action of a dictatorial regime, what shall your reaction be? Is it correct to force a democracy or a government on others? Keep reading but, please, learn to write using sentences, punctuation and capitalization rules properly. As cars go, they are just machines. You can like or dislike any machine, device, place, building, etc. as you see fit. It is up to you.

Half the people in America learned how to drive in one. the Germans needed a car that could with-stand the harsh environment of Africa. The German staff car (VW Thing) with the air-cooled engine was just the ticket. The VW was simple ,but worked great, with a 10 gal tank you could go 300 miles hwy. I would not get hung up on how it came to be,war-time has produced a lot of inventions for mankind

.

Yes indeed, Hitler was a great man..

Don't believe the lies that are told about him, drive your VW with pride in the superior engineering skills of the German people.

The reason you cite is a bit silly. But as it happens you are right about the car as it is crap.
