I recently bought a 2009 Jetta and left the lights on the first night I owned it, killing the battery. (My previous vehicle had the headlights that turn off automatically.) When I went to get the jumper cables from the truck the remote didn't work, nor did the button on the driver's side door. Is there another way to get the trunk open if the battery is completely dead?

IT LOOKS LIKE VW REMOVED THE KEY SLOT FOR THE TRUNK BEFORE '09 . SO UNTIL YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY YOU'LL HAVE TO LOWER THE BACK SEAT AND USE THE SAFETY LATCH.

Look at the place where you would have the trunk up.

There will be a place to use your key.

Now also you can lower the rear seat to access the trunk. =D

Inside the trunk is a lever that can be pulled to open the trunk from the inside.

i've got owned 4 Jags and that all of them had keyholes for the trunk. look below the logo. in case you won't be able to locate one then launch the trunk using the trunk launch button in the dashboard.
